It seems I'm losing more hair than normal and I'm very worried...Thank you for your help.?

I'm a healthy lady, not young but not old either. I'm slim, I haven't had any rare diseases, I live a normal life, I'm happily married. Sometimes I get depressed and because of that the doctor prescribed an antidepressant - a low dosage-. I also take vitamins.

My hair looks apparently healthy, it's shiny, and people say it's pretty. The last couple of years, I've been noticing that I'm losing a lot of hair. I find my hair everywhere in the house. Whenever I wash it there's lots of hair on the floor of the shower. After I finish brushing it, the brush ends up full of hairs.

I haven't noticed any 'bald' spots or anything, I do notice like short hairs as if the ones that fell were being replaced.

Does anyone have any idea of what's going on? I want serious people who know what they're talking about to answer this question. Please, if you don't know the answer, abstain from replying. If it has happened to you and you found the solution please, share it with me please. Ty.

I can't say I have a answer to why your hair is shedding possibly medication you're taking, but try a product called Nioxin my mother had this same problem about 6months ago and she started using this product and her hair has grown so well that's it's amazing. Her hair loss was due to years and years of perming and coloring so she stop the coloring and the perms and started using the nioxin. If that does not work try going to a Dermatologist. Good Luck! you can purchase Nioxin at ULTA, JC Penny's or Walmart in the salon area.

You're supposed to lose approximately 100 hairs a day, but if you're losing more, you should go to a doctor if it gets noticeable.

On a fundamental level, you have to avoid smokers that smell like hot syrupy trash in an alley is exhaleing from there face and their ashtray. Also, the pillow. One must keep a pillow clean with lots of pillowcase changes.

I can't give you any specific answers but I have had the same problem. I did speak with a doctor abour it and he said that undo amounts of stress can cause the hair loss and also certain drugs can make your hair lose its luster. Over the last four or so years I have started noticing more empty spots especially in the front hair line but I have also had quite a bit more stress. Good luck and I hope you get a better answer because I could sure use an antidote myself.

Most people associate hair loss with men and rarely bring up hair loss in women but the truth is that women are just as likely as men to suffer from hair loss. It is important to make sure the hair loss isn't from a health problem - so speaking to your doctor is important. The most common type of hair loss seen in women is androgenetic alopecia, also known as female pattern alopecia. Alopecia means baldness, but just as in men, it does not have to be complete hair loss. This is seen as hair thinning predominantly over the top and front of the head. It affects approximately one-third of all susceptible women, but is most commonly seen after menopause but has been seen as early as puberty.

I started losing my hair in my twenties. I spent years just hating it and trying everything to cover it up. Now I have found a treatment that works for me very well and I am including the website for this below. You can also try laser treatments which are supposed to work well. Best to start before you notice the hair loss on your scalp as it takes a long time to notice any difference when using hair restoration products.

I went through this,, Im 47 healthy but when my hair started falling out I freaked! I found out I wasn't eating enough protien, so now I take an Iron pill and b-vitiamins. My thyriod levels were also low.So the Doc.upped that 2. And yes my hair is not coming out in clumps anymore.

This sounds like either a side-effect of the anti-depressant you're taking, or just losing hair because it's becoming summer (if you're in the northern hemisphere). Sometimes it seems like we're losing a lot of hair, but it's just normal hair loss. Stress can also cause hair loss.

If you're concerned, you should see a physician.

It could be a side affect of the antidepressants. Rather than this try Omega 3-6-9 from a health shop. I used to get depressed and had the same problem, if found that the omega fish oil lifted my spirits,my concentration was higher and my hair stopped falling out.

If you are getting depressed this indicates that even tho you say you are happy generally, there must be an underlying problem which is causing the stress- you may not even think you are stressed but your hair falling out shows the signs. Sit down with a pen and paper and write the positive and negative things what you believe to be in your life. (Be totally honest,) Then on the negative side see how you can work on making this a positive, go back to your list in a few weeks to see if the negative change sides.

My mum became very depressed, she did this simple task and found the reason for the depression was her stress incontinence, so that was treated rather than depression pills given, what a difference in a woman a year later.
